We sell whole, half, and quarter beef carcasses. You pay us for the carcass and then pay the butcher for processing.
Note: You're purchasing a carcass, so fat and bones are included if you want them. Offal (tongue, heart, liver, kidney) is available at $13/kg on a first-come basis.
Prices are estimates based on $15/kg carcass + $2/kg butchery. Actual weight varies by animal. All prices include GST.

Payment terms
Three simple payments, spread across the process.
Deposit
$500 deposit to Backyard Beef when you complete your cut sheet.
Animal cost
Pay balance to Backyard Beef on harvest date, based on actual carcass weight.
Butchery
Pay the butcher for the processing of your selected cuts on collection.
How ordering works
When you place an order, you choose the cuts you want and we organise everything: selecting the butcher and providing them with your completed cut sheet.
We select the animal and do an on-farm harvest once we have enough orders to book the mobile abattoir (minimum 4 animals). You'll be notified of the harvest date by email.
Collection is approximately 2 weeks after harvest. This allows time for the carcass to be hung and aged for around 10 days, then processed and packaged into your chosen cuts.
Our current butcher is De Bauchery in Tikipunga for the Whangārei area. You collect your order directly from them.
