Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about ordering grass-fed beef.

Ordering

How do I place an order?

Visit our order page to submit an enquiry. We'll contact you within 24-48 hours to confirm details and send your cut sheet.

What's the timeline from order to pickup?

Once we have enough orders (minimum 4 animals), we schedule the harvest. Your beef is then aged for ~10 days and processed. Expect 2-3 weeks from harvest to collection.

Can I share an order with family or friends?

Yes! Many customers split a half or whole between households. Just let us know when ordering and we'll coordinate the cut sheet and packaging.

Is there a deposit required?

Yes, a $500 deposit secures your spot when you complete your cut sheet. The balance is due on harvest day, based on actual carcass weight.

Collection & Delivery

Where do I collect my order?

Orders are collected from De Bauchery (Tikipunga Fresh Foods) in Tikipunga, Whangārei. The butcher will contact you when ready.

Do you deliver?

Currently, all orders are collection only from our Whangārei butcher. Contact us if you have special requirements — we're happy to discuss options.

Your Beef

Can I customise my cuts?

Absolutely. You'll receive a cut sheet where you specify steak thickness, roast sizes, mince portions, and sausage flavours. It's your beef, cut your way.

What cuts are included?

A typical order includes: steaks (scotch fillet, sirloin, rump), roasts (topside, silverside, blade), slow-cook cuts (osso buco, chuck), mince, and sausages.

How is the beef packaged?

All cuts are vacuum-sealed and labelled. This extends freezer life to 12-18 months and makes it easy to identify cuts. Bring chilly bins for transport.

What about bones and offal?

Bones are included if you want them — great for stock. Offal (tongue, heart, liver, kidney) is available at $13/kg on a first-come basis. Just let us know on your cut sheet.

Storage

How much freezer space do I need?

Quarter: 8-10 cu ft • Half: 10-14 cu ft • Whole: 21+ cu ft. See the order page for a detailed freezer guide.

How long will the beef last?

Vacuum-sealed beef lasts 12-18 months in the freezer without losing quality. A quarter feeds a family of 4 for 3-4 months; a half for 6-8 months.
